Schedules Our Providers
We utilize MD's,
DO's, NP’s and PA’s in our medical practice.
MD and DO
All physicians can diagnose, manage and treat acute or
chronic illnesses. They also interpret diagnostic and/or laboratory tests. An
osteopathic physician (DO) receives extra training in the musculoskeletal
system and can use osteopathic manipulative treatments to help diagnose injury
and promote healing.
Nurse Practitioners and Physicians Assistants
Physician Assistants (PA) and Nurse Practitioners (NP) are both “mid-level”
primary health care providers who practice in many different settings. They diagnose
& manage acute or chronic illnesses. They also order, conduct and interpret
diagnostic and/or laboratory tests. They also prescribe medications for the
treatment of illnesses and counsel with other physicians in the care of the
patient. All NP’s must have a nursing degree (RN) prior to beginning nurse
practitioner education. PA training follows the MD’s medical model whereas NP
training is an extension of the medical nursing model. The PA Schooling is similar
to MD schooling, however PA’s do not complete a residency program or as long of
an internship as MD’s. Also PA’s work
under the supervision of a physician as a Physician/PA team, whereas NP’s may
choose not to do so.
